An analytical perspective on bi-regional integration between the European Union and selected Latin American integration groups

The Bachelor's thesis on Analytical Perspective on Bi-Regional Integration between the European Union and Selected Integration Organizations in Latin America presents an up-to- date analysis of partial forms of bi-regional cooperation between the European Union and two selected integration groupings - i.e CELAC and MERCOSUR. The thesis describes the objects of activity and the institutional possibilities of each of the selected Latin American organisations, and then describes the course of negotiations between these organizations and the European Union to date. Although the thesis is partly devoted to a historical summary, the main contribution of the thesis lies in the possibility to elaborate the current developments on the EU-CELAC and EU-MERCOSUR axis in the year 2023. In the case of EU-CELAC relations, the results of the bi-regional summit held in Brussels in 2023 are examined, while on the EU-MERCOSUR axis, the stage of negotiations on a free trade area between the European Union and MERCOSUR countries is examined. Problematika zemědělství v rámci dohody EU-MERCOSUR

The main goal of this diploma thesis is to evaluate the impact of the agriculture and its role in the mutual relations between European Union and Mercosur within the Free Trade Agreement. In the first part of this diploma thesis there is an explanation of the general development of international trade, dissimilarities of the agricultural politics from both sides and also their mutual agrarian trade. The main focus of the second part is particular influence of the agriculture in the agreement, individual stances of the chosen member states of the European Union and Mercosur but also of the agricultural organizations and associations. The last part focuses on the development of the Free Trade Agreement since reelection of the Brazilian president Lula de Silva which could outline possible development of the ratification and possible validity of this agreement.

Police intelligence innovation and transnational organized crime in cyberspace: A South American challenge

Cyberspace is a new domain and a lot has changed since it emerged. This dissertation evaluates the impacts it has had in transnational organized crime and police intelligence innovations, not as a cyber revolution, but as a cyber metamorphosis. After evaluating how each, transnational organized crime and police intelligence, has been impacted by the world transformations, two case studies are presented, one referring to the Tripartite Joint Command in the tri- border area between Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay, and EUROPOL, their relations to the regional integration projects (respectively MERCOSUL and European Union) and their challenges in innovating. At last, this dissertation runs a risk assessment and a scenario forecasting to enable for a better comprehension on how the key findings can be useful in strategically planning for the future.

Processes of Integration in Latin America after the Second World War

The origins of Latin American regional integration can be found in the first half of nineteenth century, nevertheless the biggest boom of integration in Latin America have been observed during the last sixty years. Just after the World War II the Organization of American States was established followed by Latin American Free Trade Association, and many others. This thesis analyses the progress and its problems of six major processes of regional integration: OAS; LAFTA/LAIA; Andean Community; processes of integration in Central America and Caribbean; and MERCOSUR. The Thesis is complemented by brief introduction to theories of integration and by a summary of remaining processes of integration since WWII to the present.

New regionalism in practice : a strategic partnership between European Union and Mercosur.

This thesis deals with the interregional relations between the European Union and Mercosur. It is approached as a single case study where the examined case is defined as "the strategic partnership between the European Union and Mercosur in the context of new regionalism". The thesis consists of three main chapters. The first chapter explains the phenomenon of new regionalism and interregionalism and deals with two theoretical approaches to regional integration - neofunctionalist and intergovernmental. The subject of the second chapter is the development of regional integration within Mercosur and the analysis of the relations between the EU and Mercosur from the early 1990's till present. The current negotiations between the two regions are aimed at the conclusion of the Association Agreement creating free trade area and consisting of three pillars: political dialogue, cooperation and trade. The negotiations were officially launched in 1999, later suspended in 2004 and re-launched at Madrid Summit in 2010. The thesis seeks to find out how the EU and Mercosur are motivated to sign the agreement and what are the main obstacles blocking the successful conclusion of the negotiation process. Dynamika agrárního obchodu mezi Evropskou unií a zeměmi Společného jihoamerického trhu

A deepening of bilateral relations between the world regions and integration groups is currently significant trend. The highest level of integration has been achieved by European Union, which belongs to the major support of interregional cooperation. One of the examples of this collaboration is relation of European Union with Southern Common Market. The focus of the thesis is to indentify and evaluate mutual tendencies of agrarian foreign trade between European Union and Southern Common Market in the last two decades. The part of the thesis has been devoted to dynamics of commodity and territorial structure of mutual food and agrarian trade. The thesis presents retrospective evaluation of trade with agricultural products against the background of liberalization within the mutual trade relations between European Union and Southern Common Market.

Analýza potenciální zóny volného obchodu mezi EU a Mercosurem

This bachelor thesis focuses on the analysis of a potential free-trade area between European Union and the Mercosur. The formation of the free-trade area between both groupings would be done by signing the Association agreement, which has been the subject of negotiations for several years. The theoretical part is dedicated to the explanation of basic terms that are associated with the integration processes and a basic characteristic of the development of the integration in Latin America. The subjects of the analytical part are the relationships between the European Union and Mercosur, their history and evolution. Another part of the thesis is a mutual business exchange between both integration blocs, which is graphically symbolized. The goal of the thesis is to identify the main obstacles that prevent the formation of the free-trade area and to describe the current situation of negotiations of the Association agreement.

Analýza obchodních vztahů Evropské unie s Brazílií

Main aim of this diploma thesis is to analyze trade relations between EU and Brazil. In the first part of the thesis there is review of literature of the applied trade policies, the importance of the parties in the world trade and development of the mutual trade relations. Subsequently the development of the free trade agreement talks between EU and Mercosur in which Brazil plays crucial role is described. Also problematic topics of the negotiations are analysed. Second part of the thesis consists of the analysis of the dynamics and structure of mutual trade between EU and Brazil as well as between EU and Mercosur. At the end there is analysed mutual relation of EU and Brazil at the multilateral level, specifically at the WTO. Obtained information are discussed and possible recommendations are suggested in the conclusion.

This thesis is focusing on a trade agreement between European union and Mercosur. It describes the way EU makes its trade agreements and how was this one made. Part of the thesis is focused on the role of Argentina in integrational group and how it was changing by the leading party. Even though it was being made through last twenty years, it is criticized, and the question is how easy or difficult will it be to ratify the deal in following years. The last part is about possible future of the agreement.

Effectiveness of the EU-Brasil Strategic Patrnership and its impact on the region

This paper concerns with the development of relations between the EU and Brazil. Even though the relations are now rather stagnant due to the internal problems of both parties and the 2008 "Great Recession" , the European Union in order to meet its goals in multipolar (or non-polar) order needs to increase the attractiveness of cooperation with non-traditional partners. Brazil certainly has the potential to be among these partners. This work therefore analyzes the EU-Brazil strategic partner- ship that was made in 2007 and is defined in its action plans and is the main communication chan- nel between the Union and Brazil. This Paper lays out the content of the partnership in order to eva- luate its effectiveness and to point out the key factors behind success or vice versa which cause stagnation in its implementation. To achieve this, we have identified several indicators that are con- sidered to be crucial in the action plans and other partnership documents, and on the basis of which their achievement will lead to strengthening the links between the parties.
